Talks are expected in coming days with Morata keen to sort his future soon
Manchester United have lodged a bid for Alvaro Morata as their aggressive transfer strategy begins to take hold.
The
Real Madrid striker will cost United upwards of £60million and is seen
as a replacement for the recently released Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Real are hopeful of thrashing out a deal somewhere above £70m with further talks expected in the coming days.
Morata wants his future fixed within the
fortnight and Jose Mourinho is keen for United's executive vice-chairman
Ed Woodward to handle business quickly.
It
emerged on Monday that an official offer had been sent to Real, while
Morata is open to a Premier League move after his return to the Bernabeu
stuttered.
The 24-year-old rejoined the La Liga champions from Juventus last summer but started just 19 games.
His
agent, Juanma Lopez, made it plain to Real last week that Morata was
edging towards an exit, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema ahead
of him in Zinedine Zidane's pecking order.
